Where to Eat Late in Boston
The show’s over, it’s 11:30 and you’re starving. Here’s where the kitchen is still open. These are kitchen hours, not bar hours: plenty of bars pour until 2 with the grill long since cold. We checked each place’s own site on October 13. Kitchens do close early on dead nights, so call if you’re cutting it close.

Open all night
- South Street Diner, 178 Kneeland Street (Leather District, by Chinatown). Calls itself Boston’s only all-night diner, open seven nights a week. Takeout and delivery run 24/7 too.
- Bova’s Bakery, 134 Salem Street (North End). An Italian bakery open 24/7: cannoli, pastries, Sicilian-style pizza and prepared food. A couple of blocks from Improv Asylum, so it’s the obvious stop after a late show on Hanover Street.
Kitchens until 1:30 AM
- Franklin Cafe, 278 Shawmut Avenue (South End). Open 5 PM to 2 AM with the kitchen until 1:30 AM. Also in the South End: Club Café’s trivia and karaoke nights.
- jm Curley, 21 Temple Place (Downtown Crossing). Late-night food until 1:30 AM seven days a week. A short walk from the Theater District and The Wilbur.
- Lucky’s Lounge, 355 Congress Street (Seaport). Kitchen until 1:30 AM Monday through Saturday (from 4 PM on Saturdays) and until 11 PM on Sundays. Closest late kitchen to Laugh Boston and the ICA.
Until midnight
- The White Bull Tavern, 1 Union Street (Faneuil Hall). Kitchen 11:30 AM to midnight every day; the bar stays open until 1:30 AM. Its Hide Out Comedy show runs Fridays from 7 to 9 PM.
- Peach Farm, 4 Tyler Street (Chinatown). Cantonese seafood, open 11:30 AM to midnight every day.
