A lot of Boston nightlife is 21+, but not all of it. Here’s where you can actually get in, with each venue’s own age rule. One rule of thumb: the age is set per show, so always check the listing before you buy.

All ages

  • Club Passim (Harvard Square). An all-ages folk club; kids under two can sit on a lap for free.
  • Roadrunner (Brighton). Most shows are all ages. Under-18s can get into 18+ shows with a parent or guardian, but 21+ means 21+.
  • The Wilbur (Theater District). All ages unless a show says otherwise, and everyone needs a ticket.
  • The ICA (Seaport). Always free for 18 and under, and free for everyone Thursday nights, 5–9 PM.
  • Crystal Ballroom (Davis Square, Somerville) and Royale both mark some shows “All ages” on their calendars.

16 and up

  • Laugh Boston (Seaport) is a 16+ club and checks IDs at the door. No drink minimum.
  • Improv Asylum (North End). Most shows are listed 16+; the late-night Raunch show is 18+, and kids under 10 aren’t allowed at evening shows.

18 and up

Many club shows at the Paradise and Brighton Music Hall are 18+, marked on each listing. Late club nights at Royale are 21+.

Browse everything on the live music and comedy pages; the age is on every listing.
