The holiday season in Boston, as dates get announced. Everything here comes from the organizers’ own sites, and we add more as they’re confirmed.

Tree lightings

  • Copley Square: Monday, Nov. 30, 5–6 PM. Free, with Santa, the Boston Children’s Chorus and a tour of the newly renovated square.
  • Boston Common: Thursday, Dec. 3, 6–8 PM. The city’s official tree, a gift from Nova Scotia, followed around 8:15 PM by the lighting of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.

Shows

  • Holiday Pops at Symphony Hall: 32 performances from Dec. 3 to Dec. 24.
  • Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker, Nov. 27 to Dec. 31, about two hours with one intermission. There’s a sensory-friendly performance on Dec. 4 at 1:30 PM.

Markets

  • Snowport returns to the Seaport on Nov. 6, with more than 130 local makers and vendors.
