Jazz Clubs in Boston

Boston has a deep jazz bench, partly thanks to Berklee, whose students and faculty play all over town. Here’s where to go, from sit-down rooms to free student shows.
The listening rooms
- Scullers Jazz Club, in the DoubleTree at 400 Soldiers Field Road. 175 seats, all at tables, and all ages. There’s a dinner-and-show package if you want to make a night of it.
- Regattabar, on the third floor of The Charles Hotel, 1 Bennett Street in Harvard Square. A 220-seat room that’s been booking jazz since 1985, with small plates and a full bar. Tickets through its site.
- Wally’s Café, on Massachusetts Avenue in the South End, is one of the city’s best-known jazz bars. Its site wouldn’t let us check hours, so look before you go.
Jazz with dinner or brunch
- The Beehive, 541 Tremont Street in the South End. A live jazz bar and restaurant with music on its calendar several nights a week, plus a weekend brunch with live music. More on our brunch guide.
Free jazz from Berklee
Berklee and the Boston Conservatory put on free student and faculty shows almost every night, many of them jazz, at Berklee’s recital halls on Boylston Street and the Red Room at Café 939. They’re all on our free events page.
See every show on the concerts page, or browse by night on the events calendar.
Checked October 15, 2026 against: Scullers, Regattabar, The Beehive, Berklee events. Nights and hours change, so check before you go.
