The BSO Premieres a Tod Machover Piece With a Live AI System in the Orchestra
Kent Nagano conducts the world premiere of already and not yet, a BSO commission, Oct. 22–24 at Symphony Hall.
The Boston Symphony Orchestra plays the world premiere of Tod Machover’s already and not yet next week at Symphony Hall. According to the BSO, the piece “incorporates a live AI system that collaborates with each BSO musician,” linking and blending the players across the orchestra. Machover describes it as a “possible, positive vision” for the future of democracy.
It’s a BSO commission, made under music director Andris Nelsons with support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s New Works Fund, and it’s part of the orchestra’s Technology and Our Humanity series. Kent Nagano conducts.
