How We Check Every Listing
Every listing on Tonight in Boston is checked against the venue’s or organizer’s own information before it goes up. Here’s exactly how.
Where listings come from
- The source is always the venue or organizer: their own website or calendar, the official ticket seller they link to, or a city or nonprofit calendar. We never use resale or ticket-aggregator sites as a source.
- Every listing shows when it was checked and links to the page we checked it against.
- If we don’t know something, we leave it blank. No guessed start times, prices or ages. If a venue only posts door times, we say “doors.”
How we keep it current
- Every Monday we re-read each venue’s calendar. New shows are added; cancellations, time changes and shows that disappear are flagged and checked by a person before anything changes.
- Sold-out shows are left off when a venue marks them sold out.
- Event submissions from readers and promoters are reviewed and checked against the organizer’s own page before they’re published.
News and history stories
- Every story lists its sources at the bottom. When another outlet broke a story, we say so and link to it.
- Facts in stories come from official or primary sources wherever possible: the venue, the city, the organizer, the restaurant itself.
- Photos are the venue’s own event images (credited to the venue) or freely licensed photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited to the photographer with their license.
Independence
Listings are free and aren’t paid placements. Venues don’t pay to be included or to be picked for our weekend roundups.
Corrections
If something’s wrong, a time, a price, a closed restaurant, tell us through our contact page and we’ll fix it. Running an event we missed? Submit it here.
