Brattle Theatre

Harvard Square’s nonprofit repertory cinema, in a hall from 1890. Classics, cult films and new releases.

The Brattle is Cambridge’s only independent cinema, a nonprofit in a hall that opened in 1890. Since 1953 it has shown repertory and foreign films, and it helped start the art house movement; the “Bogie Cult” of Humphrey Bogart screenings began here.

Most nights bring two or three films, often a themed series, plus the occasional author event with Harvard Book Store. Every screening is listed below with its start and end time. More on the building’s past in our history of the Brattle.
