Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026. This policy explains what information Tonight in Boston (tonightinboston.com) collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. We keep it short and specific to what this site actually does.

Information you give us

When you use one of our forms, we receive what you type in:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, topic and message.
  • Submit an event: the event details, plus your name, email address and organization.
  • List your business: the business details, plus your name, email address and role.

Submissions are stored in our website’s admin area and emailed to us so we can review them. We use your email address only to reply to you or to ask about your submission. We don’t sell or rent it, and we don’t add it to a mailing list.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. Learn how Google uses this data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn more in Google’s advertising policies.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalized ads or advertising cookies are used, through a consent message from Google.

Other services that load on our pages

  • Images are served through Jetpack’s image network (operated by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com), which receives your browser’s request for each image.
  • Weather in the sidebar is requested by your browser directly from the U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov).
  • Links to other sites, such as venue and ticket pages, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Information stored in your browser

Besides the analytics and advertising cookies above, the site stores two small preferences in your browser: whether you chose to hide ongoing and weekly events, and a copy of the weather forecast for 30 minutes so it doesn’t reload on every page. Neither identifies you, and clearing your browser data removes both.

Children

This site is for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information through a form, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
  • To ask us to see, correct or delete a form submission you sent, use our contact page.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
